Team Argos-Shimano has received an invitation for the Tour de France. This was announced by the organizers of the Tour on Friday. The management of Team Argos-Shimano thanks the Direction du Cyclisme of organizer Amaury Sport Organisation for its faith in us.

The team – with a sports vision based on 1t4i (team spirit, inspiration, integrity, improvement, innovation) - views participation in this prestigious cycling event, in the first year of Team Argos-Shimano, as proof of acknowledgement of and appreciation for the ambitious cycling plan that has been realized. General Manager Iwan Spekenbrink is very pleased with the starting permit: “It is a great reward for the hard work of all the cyclists and the entire staff, as well as for our partners’ faith in this ambitious cycling project”.

“We have a strong team and we expect to be able to achieve a stage victory in the sprint or by attacking”, says co-manager Sissy van Alebeek, who points out that Argos – the new title sponsor of the team – has had a unique week. A week ago, Argos’ new international company strategy was presented and therewith, the main sponsorship of Team Argos-Shimano was announced as a prominent part of this strategy. Last Wednesday, the first victory in the new outfit was already achieved; Marcel Kittel won the Scheldeprijs. The first week of Team Argos-Shimano ended today with the invitation for the Tour de France.
